Experience

As I entered my final year of college, I started a screen-printing e-commerce company called Style with Benefits using my self-taught design and coding skills instead of my deeply relevant Quantitative Methods in Economics & Math major. Despite clearly disrespecting my major, I won several business awards and funding from my university. All the designs created & shipped raised funds for lower budget grassroots non-profits.

Thanks to my company, I moved to the bay area to take part in an entrepreneurship program I’d received a scholarship for. I quickly became fascinated by the challenges and problem solving tech products required and began doing UX and front-end work for companies in my cohort, including Darpdecade which I continued to work with in the Netherlands and the US after the program ended.

After the program finished, I remained enamored with product design and wanted to increase the breadth & depth of my knowledge. I learn best by doing, so I did a lot — I worked on internal apps and other projects for Draper Associates while simultaneously working with a variety of early-stage companies coming through Boost VC as they worked towards product-market fit.

I became the first designer at the software development agency Gigster. I set up internal frameworks, processes and best practices for projects of varying scales while also working with external clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Fidelity and Digit. I leaned into community by providing product design mentorship at high school and collegiate hackathons on both coasts, building Sketch plug-ins & templates and creating Diverse UI. Physically, I moved from SF to NYC then back again.

While I loved the excitement and challenge of working on a variety of products, I wanted to explore the process of iterating on a product at scale. I joined Evenbrite as a Designer Fund Bridge Fellow to do just that. During my time there I worked on both our consumer and organizer products before shifting to the design systems team where I remained until I left at the end of 2018 to move back to NYC.

I joined Asana to help get their newly formed design systems team off the ground. This was originally a temporary contract position, but I ended up deciding to join full-time. After joining the New York office I led design of our new product area, Reporting, including several zero to one features.

Coming out of the challenges of the early pandemic, I decided to recalibrate and explore variety of design challenges. I consulted and did freelance work for a variery of tech companies while also helping a nonprofit scale their operations and open their first physical event space. I also moved from NYC to Massachusetts.

I’m still consulting and taking on freelance work, but I feel recalibrated and excited to jump into the next interesting challenge. If you have something in mind, please reach out!
